Returning to the pavement
After two years of remote events, the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini Marathon and Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K returned to the streets of Downtown Indianapolis this spring.
In the days leading up to the festival, Delta Dental Foundation and Delta Dental of Indiana staff presented at the festival expo showcasing the Rethink Your Drink display, distributing hundreds of toothbrushes and providing attendees with oral health educational materials.
“Our mission is to support healthy, smart, vibrant communities and this is a great opportunity to get people out,” said JJ Nelson, vice president of sales and account management for Delta Dental of Indiana. “When you have this kind of atmosphere and people out here it’s so electrifying.”
More than 4,000 runners completed the 2022 Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K and racers came from six different countries and all 50 states to participate in the two events.
The 500 Festival is a not-for-profit organization that produces more than 50 life-enriching events and programs while celebrating the spirit and legacy of the Indianapolis 500® and fostering a positive impact on the city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana.
Named one of America’s Best 5K races, the Delta Dental 500 Festival 5K takes place prior to the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon every May.
